At Boop! Dog Training we’re proud to exclusively use Positive Reinforcement Training. In the past, dog trainers have relied on techniques which lack evidence and were often inhumane, but today we’re lucky to have a large body of research about ideal training methods. Our use of reward-based training is in line with that research, and the Position Statement on Humane Dog Training by the AVSAB.
Our commitment to humane and ethical treatment means that we do NOT use aversive methods in our training. Aversive training methods include anything that attempts to teach through pain, discomfort, fear, or any other stimulus a dog will seek to avoid. This can range from e-collars to pop-corrections, using a raised voice, or physically manipulating a dogs body. When training can easily be a fun and stimulating activity for both you and your dog to participate in, there is no reason to use methods that break down instead of build up our bonds with our dogs.
